Siebel Center for Design Offers Self-Paced, Free Online Course for K-12 Educators

Our BETA course Learn It! is an online professional learning opportunity for K-12 educators across our state and across the country. This prototype test will inform our future iterations and additional courses.

Employing human-centered design and design-thinking ourselves, we're hoping for serious feedback on what you think about it and how you use it!  We know it isn't perfect so share your thoughts in the survey at the end of the Learn It! course so we can learn, too, and start on the next iteration.

More about this Course Series

Learn It! is the first of three to be released

  • Take at your own pace

Learn It! is an asynchronous course so you can jump into right now and continue at your own pace. If you move right through it, it takes about an hour.

  • Group work

The 2nd course, Try It!, is soon-to-be-released. It offers synchronous scheduled group sessions to practice what you learned in Learn It!

  • Real-Time Feedback

Apply It! the 3rd course, continues group learning through scheduled sessions with your peers and adapting your own curriculum.

  • Illinois PDH Credit

CPDUs are available for licensed Illinois teachers who need PDH. A certificate is provided for all who complete the course successfully.

  • Who should take these courses?

YOU! Although geared to K-12 educators in the US, the components of human-center design and design thinking can be universal and applied across disciplines.

What our beta testers are saying...

"...the entire process is about understanding, empathizing and learning."  Mark, Summer '21
"The second iteration of the training did a much better job of saying this is an overview. [It's like they're saying] 'We're empowering you with some of the broad strokes; we're giving you some terminology you're going to use.' "  Michael, Summer '21
"I liked that it was broken up between videos and reading. It was simple...this really was painless."   Ella, Summer '21
